During the early hours of this morning our excellent GB team won their first gold medal of the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. It’s the first gold in 30 years at these winter games and was won by a young lady by the name of Amy Williams in the women’s skeleton. I tried to stay awake but, sadly didn’t so I saw the highlights this morning. Amy also beat the Germans into 3rd place so I now have something to brag about to my German partner!!

I know we aren’t a nation of winter sports lovers so I don’t think we were expecting any medals let alone a gold, but, through true British grit and determination we managed one and it makes me very proud to be British.

Congrats to Amy and the GB team, lets hope it’s the 1st of many!!
