Here’s a great recipe for homemade pizza. The base is really easy to make and if you don’t want to use it straight away it can be left in the fridge. You can even freeze the dough if you want to make it and use it another day. As for the toppings, well as most of you already know, you can use anything on top!

Ingredients Pizza Base

To make 4 medium pizzas

· 500g Strong flour

· 7g Sachet yeast

· Salt to taste

· 2 tbsp. Olive oil

· 300ml lukewarm water

Ingredients Pizza Topping

You can use pretty much anything you want for your toppings, I know someone who makes her pizza with salted peanuts and curry powder! The following list just gives you an idea on what to use.

Coriander Cumin Garlic Onions
Baked beans Anchovies Ham Mushrooms
Pineapple Tuna Kebab meat Cheese
Red & green peppers Meatballs Chicken Mozzarella cheese
Chilli’s Pepperoni Sausage Parmesan

If you need a tomato base but have none, use tomato ketchup instead!

Method Base

1. Mix the yeast and salt if needed with the warm water. Put to one side and leave for a few minutes.

2. Put the flour in a mixing bowl and mix in the olive oil.

3. Make a well in the centre of the flour then pour the yeasty water into it.

4. Mix everything together and knead until you have a smooth dough.

5. Place in a warm place for an hour or until it has doubled in size. Remember to cover the bowl with a tea towel.

6. Once the dough has risen take it from the bowl and knead it for one minute.

7. Put the oven on 220C or gas Mark 7.

8. Divide the dough into 4 pieces and on a floured surface roll out the individual pizza bases.

Once you are happy with the size and shape it’s now ready for the toppings. Use whatever you have available as a pizza can have any topping you like. Cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the base has started to brown off underneath and the toppings are golden.
